The carcasses of at least 14 cows and calves were found in slurry at David Fryatt's farm in Tivetshall, near Diss, Kings Lynn Magistrates Court heard. Fryatt, of Pear Tree Farm, was found guilty of 13 charges, including causing unnecessary suffering and obstructing Trading Standards officers, last month. Sentencing Fryatt, 65, who had denied the offences, magistrates told him he had shown no remorse. Vets and Trading Standards officers discovered the carcasses on a visit to Fryatt's farm on 31 March. Overgrown hooves They had served him with an improvement notice the month before, the court heard. Officers removed 14 surviving cattle from the yard and 38 animals from the farm's neighbouring field in Mill Road. A dead calf was found entangled in wire mesh, and two ponies were rescued by World Horse Welfare after they were discovered with overgrown hooves.
