The top price for a pelt was $59.08 and the average price per pelt was $28.92,” said Jim Gibb, director of public relations. About 30 international buyers sat with their auction cards bidding on more than 100,000 pelts from 15 species. Also a top seller Friday was muskrat, which fetched a top price of $7.94 per pelt with the average set at $3.85. The toughest species to move was raccoon. “We only sold eight per cent of our stock and the top price was $39.10 compared to about $45 last year,” Gibb said. “We cleared almost 100 per cent last year.” Buyer Mitch Hatzis has been attending local sales for more than 25 years. “I am always happy and I always get something,” said Hatzis, who lives in Manhattan. “The best is the beavers, and second raccoons. Any wild fur is much better, because the weather helps the fur a lot. You get good quality.” Gibb was pessimistic prior to the sale. “We expected it to be the worst. We are thinking the market, in a bit more time, will stabilize and prices should improve over the season.” --------------------- p.s.: Il y a eu une autre vente tout récemment et d'après ce que j'ai entendu à la radio anglo, il y a eu très peu d'acheteurs pour les peaux de phoques....
