1,000 ‘PETS’ WERE KEPT IN SQUALOR

A MAN has been jailed after RSPCA officers found his home crammed with more than 1,000 animals.

John Ord Clark, 42, had filled his semi with tanks to contain his vast menagerie.

Appalled welfare inspectors who had been tipped off that he was running an illegal pet shop found bedrooms filled with reptiles, frogs, geckos, four boa constrictors, a 3ft water dragon lizard and a rat in a plastic box.

Magistrates heard how the tiny home in Oldham also housed dogs, parrots, tortoises and chickens.

Yesterday Clark was starting a three-month jail sentence after he was found guilty of 14 charges, including causing unnecessary suffering to animals and running an unlicensed pet shop. He was banned from keeping any animal for five years.

RSPCA inspector Catherine Burns told Oldham magistrates: “It was impossible to count all the animals but I would estimate there were more than 1,000. The dogs were in appalling conditions and their pen was cramped and full of faeces which were splashing on to their coats.

“Fungus was growing in a tank which housed one of the snakes.”

Wow, même moi, c'est pas si pire chez nous. Ma famille blague que j'ai un refuge chez moi, ou un zoo. J'ai juste une quinzaine d'animaux. C'est qu'ils n'ont pas lus des articles dans ce genre là.


Non mais sérieux... 1000 animaux? Gardés dans le même logement? C'est quasiment pire qu'une grosse usine à chiots... personne ne peut avoir ce nombre d'animaux et en prendre sérieusement soin... je suis contente que le monsieur ait recu du temps de prison, mais en même temps, je suis déçue que ça soit surtout à cause de son commerce d'animaux illégal, et pas dû au fait qu'il négligeait les animaux (même si ça a probablement contribué à rendre la sentence un petit peu plus sévère).

Oui, c'est dommage qu'il ne paie pas pour les bonnes raisons, mais au moins il paie. C'est un petit soulagement.
