50 hogs destroyed at the scene after transport truck overturns in the ditch

NEEPAWA, Man. - Rescue workers had to destroy 50 hogs after a transport
truck carrying the animals hit loose gravel and overturned in the ditch near
Neepawa, Man.

The truck was carrying 200 hogs to a processing plant and slid into the
ditch while turning onto the gravel road that leads to the plant. The driver
of the semi-trailer and two passengers were treated at the scene for minor
injuries.

Employees from the Springhill Farms Hog Processing plant were joined by
members of local Hutterite colonies who helped with the cleanup.

RCMP are investigating, but say alcohol was not a factor.
