Ces magnifiques petites baleines blanches sont en voie d'extinction mais elles sont toujours harponnées par les Inuits. ----------------- Kivalina lands its first beluga of the year Monday, September 14, 2009 ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- After being shut out since last spring, the village of Kivalina finally landed its first beluga of the year Monday. Whaling captain Reppi Swan was at work on the village sea wall when he heard over the radio that three whales were swimming 20 feet off the beach. His boss let him and a co-worker take a break to go chase them. After 10 minutes in his boat, an eight-foot beluga surfaced. Reppi harpooned it and then finished it off with a gunshot. "This is unusual for us. We usually go fishing this time of year and caribou hunting, but this time we got belugas," Swan said by phone Monday. Traditionally the first beluga of the season is shared with the entire village. Each of Kivalina's 77 families took home five pounds of muktuk and meat. http://www.ktuu.com/Global/story.asp?S=11130864 Partager ce message Lien à poster Partager sur d’autres sites
