12 militants animalistes arrêtés en Espagne

Le 21 juin, des raids ont eu lieu chez des militants des associations Igualdad Animal et Equanimal. 12 militants ont été arrêtés, amenés devant la cour de St
Jacques de Compostelle et accusés de crime contre l'environnment, désordre public et association criminelle.

A l'origine de ces arrestations, il y la libération de 20 000 visons en 2007.
Les associations affirment ne pas être impliquées dans ces libérations.

Des manifestations de soutien auront lieu demain en Espagne et Equanimal and Igualdad Animal tiendront une conférence de presse.

Y a eu quelques mic mac dans les chiffres, alors SOUS RESERVE :

5 militants ont été entendus par le juge. 4 ont été inculpés (Jose Ramon, Jennifer, Rafa + un militant qui veut rester anonyme) mais libérés, mais Olaia, reste en détention jusqu'au procès. Elle est en grève de la faim.
6 autres militants doivent encore être entendus par le juge. Ils sont en grève de la faim pour protester contre l'injustice de leur détention et de leur possible incarcération.

Comme vous le voyez, ça fait 11. Quid du 12ème ? Comme je vous disais, il y a eu des erreurs quelques parts, où c'est moins qui ai mal compris une info à un moment donné...

D'après L214 qui les nomme tous, ils seraient bien 12 : Sara, Olaia, Eneko, José, Ramon, Eladio, Rafael, Jennifer, Borja, Jose, Sharon et David. Il y aurait un José et un Jose. Ou bien c'est Jose Ramon et pas Jose et Ramon ???

Oui, y'a eu embrouille dans les prénoms et une virgule de trop. En fait, il s'agit de José Ramón Mallén. Alors, soit le militant qui veut rester anonyme est carrément mis de côté, soit sur les 12 militants perquisitionnés, il y en a un qui n'avait pas été arrêté ?

Parce qu'au dernières nouvelles, on apprend que 8 militants ont été inculpés et libérés sous caution, que 3 ont étés placés en détention provisoire. Et ..que le seul activiste qui n'a pas été arrêtés (mais qui aurait été malgré tout compris dans les 12 dont il était question ??? ou alors un 13ème, qui aurait été perquisitionné mais pas arrêté ???) s'est présenté volontairement, n'a pas été mis en détention, et devra déposer lundi. Je suis larguée ...


Between yesterday and today the examining magistrate number 2 from Santiago de Compostela released eight of the eleven detainees on bail with charges, while three other activists were placed on remand in custody. The only activist not yet arrested today voluntarily presented himself but has not been taken into custody and has been given his first hearing for next Monday.

We are both legally constituted organisations, with a long history of work in the animal rights movement and with growing public awareness and support from society for our work. We do not carry out the type of activism for which we are being accused of. If there is one thing that characterises our activism, it is the peaceful nature and transparency of our actions, since everything that we do is within the public domain.
We do not have anything to hide, and to demonstrate that this is true, on several occasions we have invited the media to accompany us on our investigations or other activities, such as jumping into bullrings or interrupting fur shows. We request that all those detained are freed, since they are innocent of the offences they have been charged with.

Alors, en fait les policiers (160 en tout, excusez du peu), répartis en 13 équipes, encagoulés et armés de mitraillettes, ont pris d'assaut les domiciles de 12 militants. 1 n'était pas chez lui et s'est présenté de lui-même plus tard, il doit être entendu par le juge aujourd'hui ou demain, et les 11 autres ont été arrêtés.

Extremists take credit for attack on fur store

An extreme animal rights group associated with vandalism and bombings around the world has claimed responsibility for a chemical attack at a Vancouver fur store overnight.

James Laurenson, the owner of Speiser Furs on Granville Street, arrived at work Monday morning to find the locks to his store glued shut. When he was finally able to get inside, he discovered that his merchandise had been sprayed with some sort of chemical, an attack that the Animal Liberation Front is taking credit for.

"There was this acrid smell; it smelled like chlorine or bleach," Laurenson told CTV News.

"All the coats on the right side, about 25 feet into the store, were covered in this bleach liquid."

The spray caused the colour to leach out of the clothing, ruining some coats worth more than $5,000 each.

"It's useless. There's nothing to salvage," Laurenson said, adding that it was too early to put an estimate on the value of the damage done.

The ALF, a group of militant animal activists that "liberates" animals from fur farms and has been connected to bombings in Mexico, Russia and the U.K., took responsibility for the destruction in a press release on Monday.

"Tonight we took action against one of Vancouver's cruelest businesses -- Speiser Furs," the release said.

"We brought a backpack with us and in it was an industrial pressurized chemical sprayer with a two-foot-long spraying wand. We inserted the spraying wand into their mail slot and sprayed four litres of a highly corrosive chemical onto their racks of jackets."

The group says that it glued the store's locks shut to allow the chemical more time to destroy the coats in what it terms an "act of economic sabotage."

Laurenson, who has been in the fur business since 1949, says he's faced countless protests and acts of vandalism during his career, including protesters who've thrown balls containing red paint through the windows.

"We've had a lot of these kind of people," he said. "We just have to get new product. I can't let them turn me."

He did add, however, that changing attitudes about leather and fur have led him to stock more non-animal products in recent years.

Suite au recours déposé contre leur détention, les 3 militants animalistes qui étaient en prison (Olaia, Eneko et Eladio) ont été libérés.
Je me sens un peu optimiste (une fois n'est pas coutume ) : pour le moment, ça se présente moins mal que l'affaire autrichienne.
