The U.S. Army has announced that it is ending cruel chemical attack training exercises on monkeys and replacing them with modern non-animal alternatives that are more humane and that better prepare military staff to treat humans!

For years at Aberdeen Proving Ground, dozens of vervet monkeys imprisoned in laboratories had been routinely injected with a toxic drug overdose in order to crudely simulate the effects of a nerve-agent attack. The monkeys suffered from violent seizures and retching, and some even stopped breathing. Because Aberdeen was the only U.S. military facility conducting this cruel procedure, this victory marks the complete end of animal use in this training.
