Je suis scandalisée aussi même si ce fénoméne n'est pas nouveau, il y a quelques années on a diffusé un reportage sur l'abbatage de chevaux sauvages.

Les chasseurs en hélico abbataient les chevaux !
Et on dit que la chasse est un sport ???
Surtout que ce n'était pas dans le but de se nourrir mais juste de tuer pour gagner du territoire.

J'aimerais envoyé une lettre mais je ne parle pas anglais et ne comprends pas ce qui est écris sur le site et ne sais d'ailleurs pas où sont les lettres pré-écrites

ben sur le site tu vas voir "what you can do to help" (c un gros titre )
un peu plus bas tu cliques sur un lien pour avoir un exemple de lettre
tu le telecharges et tu ecris le nom du type a qui tecrit tt en haut et tu signe tt en bas et tu lenvois avec ladress email qui est marque sur le site
et ca fera une lettre en plus ...

Euh....ça fait des dizaines d'années que c'est ainsi hein!

Des ventes sont organisées pour essayer d'en sauver un max et on débourre puis revend aux manèges si pas ils sont tirés d'un hélicoptère comme des lapins!

Je connais un cheval qui vient de là...on les achète prix boucherie mais ça coute de les rapatrier et aussi l'instinct sauvage revient parfois...j'ai vu en démo meme si monté je n'ai eu aucuns pbs!

Mais les Etats-Unis marchent déjà sur les droits de l'homme, alors les droits des animaux, tu penses...

La 1ere que j'ai vu un reportage là-dessus, je devais avoir 6ans et c'était sur 30millions d'amis...donc y a 18ans

Tu ne crois pas qu'il arrive assez de conneries sur terre...si le JT devais exposer toutes les choses honteuses...il durerait des semaines de suite...bref en tout cas j'ai dejà vu le sujet x fois dans des émissions sur les animaux.

Oh oui: il y a quelque chose à faire mais je ne sais pas si la solution plaira à tous.

Pourquoi pensez-vous que les USA ont de plus en plus besoin de pâtures ?
Tout comme en Argentine, en Amazonie... où les forêts disparaissent à très grande vitesse au profit des terrains d'élevage.
Ces vaches sont engraissées pour nous nourrir et donc fournir les supermarchés mais surtout les grandes chaînes de fast food ( Q****, Mc D*****, W***** aux States etc...). Ce sont ces" restaurants "qui sont actionnaires principaux des chaînes d'élévage en donc responsables en grande partie de la destruction des animaux jugés " inutiles" et de leur biotope.

Donc, si vous voulez: vous pouvez réagir !!
( heu : ce n'est pas un appel à la violence, hein !! Pas de terrorisme ! Il y a plus sain et moins dangereux : l'abstinence de ce genre de "restos"!)

Horse Slaughter Amendment Passes U.S. House!

Dear Friend,

We've done it again! Thanks to caring people like you, the U.S. House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly -- 269-158 -- to halt the taxpayer support for the slaughter of nearly 90,000 horses per year. The Sweeney-Spratt amendment effectively eliminates the practice of slaughtering horses -- thoroughbreds, show horses, family ponies, and wild horses -- for human consumption overseas.

The successful amendment to the agriculture appropriations bill, championed by U.S. Representatives John Sweeney (R-NY), John Spratt (D-SC), Nick Jo Rahall (D-WV), and Ed Whitfield (R-KY), will defund USDA inspections at the three U.S. horse slaughterhouses as well as border inspections of slaughter-bound horses. All three slaughterhouses are foreign-owned companies.

"Since our nation was founded, we as a country have shared a special relationship with the horse," said Rep. John Sweeney (R-NY). "It is unconscionable that for decades, we have been using federal taxpayer dollars to support a practice that the American public is overwhelmingly opposed to. I'm pleased to see that my colleagues agree that this horrid inhumane treatment must end."

"If you've grown up with and ridden horses as I have, you develop an affinity for these special creatures," added Rep. John Spratt (D-SC). "They're as close to human as you can get in the animal domain."

On May 19, the U.S. House voted to support a similar amendment, by a vote of 249-159, to ban the slaughter of wild mustangs. Today's vote protects domestic horses as well, as there is no justification in slaughtering horses for human consumption abroad. U.S. Senator John Ensign (R-NV) has pledged to introduce a bill in the Senate to outlaw the slaughter of horses for human consumption.

Protecting America's horses -- domesticated and wild -- has clearly struck a chord with animal advocates nationwide. Congressional offices told us they were flooded with phone calls and emails asking them to support the Sweeney-Spratt amendment, and I can assure you that your participation has once again carried the day for horses. En gros, la chambre des représentants US a voté massivement deux amendements en faveur des chevaux : l'un pour arrêter le financement public des inspections aux abattoirs de chevaux (ce qui devrait avoir pour conséquence de rendre la viande de cheval impropre à la consommation humaine) et l'autre pour interdire l'abattage des chevaux sauvages (mustangs).
C'est une première victoire, mais il faut encore que le Sénat fasse de même.

Cependant, comme je l'ai dit, il faut encore convaincre le Sénat et ses puissants lobbies. Une bataille est déjà gagnée, mais pas la guerre.
