...what if Prime Minister Paul Martin's office were to receive at least 20-30
phone calls per day from Canadians on this issue, for the next two months? This
is perfectly achievable...with your help!
According to polls, the majority of Canadians oppose the seal hunt. Our PM's
office needs to hear from them...and you! The PM's office also needs to know
that many, many Canadians will not only support a seafood boycott in order to
bring about an end to the brutal yearly massacres, but will spread the message
to their contacts. I personally believe that we must be relentless in prompting
people to phone this number from within Canada.

When you make your call....

...you will likely be "on hold" for a few minutes, but won't be charged for the
call. An intermediary receptionist will then direct your call to the Office of
the Prime Minister. Be prepared to state why you would like to see a permanent
ban on seal hunting in Canada. Note: if for any reason you are uncomfortable
with making a phone call, then faxing or mailing a letter would be the next best
option (according to the PM's office). Politely request a reply to your letter.

five compassionate friends, acquaintances, business associates, neighbours, or
relatives. Please make sure that they are familiar with the facts surrounding

My experience today when calling the PM's office:

I had to wait about five minutes, and
was then connected to an intermediary person, and finally Mr. Godlov of the
PM's office. He asked lots of questions about why I am opposed to the hunt,
and was particularly interested in the boycott info. He suggested that a
letter, especially referring to the boycott, be sent by myself to the PM's
office,
either by regular mail or fax. He didn't ask for my name, just province,
and the name of my MP. Mr. Godlov did spend a while trying to find out how
much I know about the industry, e.g. for what purposes the seals are killed.
He suggested that the government doesn't have anything to do with the hunt,
so I educated him re: how the hunt is subsidized, and how the DFO is in
charge of it. To that he had no comment.
