Animal 0 Posté(e) le 18 avril 2005 Officials to decide on seal hunt Monday Sunday, April 17, 2005 Updated at 4:52 PM EST Canadian Press St. John's, Nfld. — Fisheries Department officials were waiting until Monday to decide whether to resume the seal hunt off northwestern Newfoundland. Spokesman Larry Yetman said the hunt would close Sunday night in order to give officials time to assess whether sealers had taken enough seals to meet the quota. The catch limit for this season is just under 320,000 seals. (P.S. EST-CE QUE CELA VOUDRAIT DIRE QUE LES 90 000 QUELQUES PHOQUES TUÉS AU QUÉBEC AU DÉBUT DE LA CHASSE NE FONT PAS PARTIE DU QUOTA DE 320 000 QUI DOIT ÊTRE ATTEINT ? ) Mr. Yetman said hunters were about 95,000 to 100,000 pelts under the quota as of noon Sunday. Bad weather last week delayed the start of the largest of the East Coast's two seal hunts until Friday. Since then, more than 300 vessels of all sizes have been operating in bad weather in an area known as the Front. Mr. Yetman said conditions had improved slightly Sunday, but some boats still experienced difficulty in heavy ice. He said the conditions kept protest groups out of the area. En principes, cela doit être le grand total incluant le nombre de 90,000, mais on ne sait jamais avec eux. Partager ce message Lien à poster Partager sur d’autres sites
