ALBERT, Alta. - Milk may be banned from at least one Alberta school for fear that two students with severe allergies could have life-threatening reactions. The students' parents want Ecole Marie Poburan, a Catholic elementary school in St. Albert north of Edmonton, to end a program which provides refrigerated milk to many of the school's 400 students each day. The parents say the program exposes their children to unnecessary health risks. Dairy products and other foods including peanuts, shellfish, eggs, fish, shellfish, soy, wheat and sesame seeds can cause severe life-threatening anaphylactic reactions.
