It happened Friday while Harvey Robinson was picking plums near his home north of Winnipeg. While an RCMP officer and some family members were at the scene, the bear charged out of the bush. The officer fired two shots with his handgun, wounding the bear, which then ran back into the bush. Conservation officers in a helicopter later found the bear's carcass about 40 metres from where it had been shot. Jim Giesbrecht, chief natural resources officer for the area, says the bear's carcass will be studied to see if it can yield any clues that might explain the attack. He says it's possible Robinson accidentally surprised the animal, or that it was trying to defend a source of food. It's the third fatal bear attack in Manitoba's recorded history. canada.com 2005 Partager ce message Lien à poster Partager sur d’autres sites
