Comment se fait-il que les jeunes soient aussi violents aujourd'hui ? Pourquoi détestent-ils les animaux à ce point ?
Dans mon temps, une chose pareille ne nous serait jamais venue à l'idée !

'Pigeon crushing' craze condemned

The new practice has been labelled as 'cruel'

Youths are attempting to lure pigeons into the path of buses as part of a new fad, a bird welfare group has claimed.

The Pigeon Control Advisory Service (PiCAS) said it had received complaints from bird lovers in Bristol that youths were throwing bird food into bus lanes.

The youths allegedly then throw more bait onto the road in the hope of seeing pigeons and seagulls run over.

A PiCAS spokesman threatened to privately prosecute youngsters involved in the trend.

The group warned that the youths are also risking the lives of pedestrians and other road users if bus drivers swerve in an attempt to avoid the birds.

PiCAS director Guy Merchant said Bristol residents had complained about the activity.

Road safety

He said: "The driver may have to brake hard or swerve to avoid hitting the birds. He could then swerve into oncoming traffic or even hit pedestrians.

"The birds could also smash the driver's windscreen, which would have very serious road safety implications."

Mr Merchant warned that anybody caught carrying out the activity would be punished.

"It's clear the people doing this are breaking the law. If the youth was identified and the police did not feel empowered to take out a prosecution then we would consider taking out a private prosecution."

RSPCA spokeswoman Katy Greary said: "It's sad these people find it a fun way to pass the time.

"We've heard rumours of it happening before during school holidays and it is something to be discouraged, for many reasons - not just because of animal welfare."

Ils l'étaient aussi Do mais on le savait moins. Je me souviens de jeunes dans un village voisin du mien qui avaient crucifié un chat vivant.
