Bel étalon arabe gris âgé de 27 ans recherche foyer. Peut faire de petites promenades. Affectueux et suit comme un chien. La seule différence est qu'il ne partagera pas la maison avec vous.

Here is his story:

This beautiful grey boy spent many years working as a riding horse being passed from owner to owner.Then in his later years he was used for breeding at a huge breeding farm.Kept in a stall 24 hours a day never being let out unless they had a mare to be bred,then he was locked back up!.Not even let out to roam in a small paddock. (kind of sounds like a puppymill) At the age of 20 the owners felt he was not useful enough to keep around so they decided to send him off for meat to get that last bit of money out of him.He was being loaded to be sent to slaughter when a neighbour passed by and saw what was happening.Immediately she purchased him for meat price. She loved and cared for him for a few years. Then her mother fell ill ,passed away and then her son got sick also. Spending so much time helping her ailing son she realized she no longer had the time to care for him so she found him a home with another woman.

Now this woman has kept him for four years and loves him with all her heart but the farm that she lives and works on is not hers .The owners have sold it so she has until the end of the summer to move out. No longer having a home for herself or the horse and not being able to afford a new place,she needs to find him a home.

He is very healthy, sweet and friendly .He could be adopted out to be a companion with a gelding(s) (he is to old to be castrated).He is ridable but for only light riding.He follows you around like a dog ,loves attention and gives much affection back.He will give anyone the same friendship as a dog would.(except he most likely won't sleep in the house)

I just want to mention that most people don't realize that horses have to work in order to stay alive.Usually once they are no longer usable they are disposed of to make room for a new one that can work.

The least they deserve after all the years of hard work is a retirement.

They have an average life span of 30 years+. The oldest at the Refuge was 42.

If there is anyone out there who could help this retired senior citizen find a final home it would give peace of mind to all the people who have tried to save him for the last seven years and it would show him that some of us do care.

Voici une petite traduction rapide ...


Ce vieux cheval gris a été utilisé pendant plusieurs années pour des gens qui faisaient de l'équitation. Par la suite il a été utilisé dans une grande ferme d'élevage comme reproducteur, où il était tenu 24 heures sur 24 dans un réduit d'où il ne sortait qu'occasionnellement pour "monter des juments"...
À l'âge de 20 ans ses propriétaires décidèrent de le vendre pour sa "viande" et alors qu'il s'apprêtait à monter dans un camion de transport, une femme l'a acheté au prix que son propriétaire aurait eu s'il l'avait envoyé à l'abattoir. Elle s'est occupée de lui pendant quelques années, mais ayant un fils gravement malade, vint un temps où elle ne fut plus capable de s'occuper de lui et elle se décida à le vendre à une autre femme. La nouvelle propriétaire de ce cheval qui s'occupe de lui depuis 4 ans doit s'en défaire, car la ferme où elle travaille et où se trouve son cheval présentement ne lui appartient pas et le propriétaire de cette ferme vient de vendre sa ferme, donc cette femme doit quitter les lieux d'ici la fin de l'été et doit se défaire de son cheval.

L'animal est en bonne santé et est très affectueux. Il est trop âgé pour être castré. Un cheval peut vivre jusqu'à plus de 40 ans.

Oui, il est au refuge RR.
Je n'ai pas reçu l'information qu'il avait été adopté pour le moment alors, je ne crois pas qu'il le soit.
Rose, qui est en charge du refure RR, est anglophone. Je ne sais pas si elle parle français.

Ils ont aussi un refuge situé dans les Laurentides, je crois. Je ne sais plus où car leur site internet est en rénovation ces jours-ci, mais je crois bien que cet étalon est au refuge en Ontario, mais c'est à la "frontière" du Québec.
