Soirée de solidarité et de soutien aux prisonniers arrêtés pour leur défense des animaux (y compris un montréalais!):

Citation :

EVENT: Night of Solidarity with Animal Rights Prisoners (Will include
tasty food, motivating videos, and lots of letter-writing!)

DATE: Sunday June 18th – 4pm

LOCATION: Global Action Network (372, Ste-Catherine West, Suite #308—Metro
Place-des-Arts)

WHAT: A night of fun and action! On the menu: lots of motivating videos
to watch (inspirational speeches, awesome protests, and actions all across
the world against animal abuse); BYOVF (bring your own vegan food! You
can, of course, also bring some to share); letter-writing to animal rights
prisoners; and tons of used clothing, books, music, cookbooks, movies, and
magazines by donation. Bring some cash because there will be great stuff
you won't want to pass up! All the donations will go to the legal defense
fund so feel free to spend! We will be supplying all of the
letter-writing materials. (If you want to donate anything, we would
really appreciate it. You can do so by contacting
cara_animalrights@yahoo.ca).

WHY: Europe has recently seen some of the most repressive measures taken
against animal rights activists to date. Protests are banned or harshly
regulated, leaflets are censored, and entire legal campaigns have come
under police attack. It is in this environment of hostility against
animal rights that a local activist from Montreal has recently been
arrested in Europe. He was a tireless crusader against animal abuse
bearing the extreme Montreal winters, and tabling in -15 degrees weather
with a smile on his face and a petition in hand. Since he was such a
strong support for activists around him and a relentless fighter against
animal experimentation, the fight against animal abuse in Canada is
drastically hindered by his arrest and the spot where his animal rights
booth was set up on St. Catherine is glaringly empty. Without people like
him, there would be little progression in the animal rights movement and
much less passion. We must support animal rights activists who have been
the victims of repressive state institutions interested in protecting
their animal abuse industries. Please come out to this fundraiser and
bring some money for the legal defense fund for Canadian animal rights
prisoners, even if it is only a few dollars. If you cannot afford
anything at all, consider bringing some old magazines or books (French
preferred) that we can send him. Animal rights activists MUST support one
another! Please come out to this event to show your solidarity and bring
all of your friends! We're also asking since this night is in part a
fundraiser that people try to bring at least $5 that we can use for the
legal defense fund. If you can spare more, it's certainly appreciated!

Please RSVP to cara_animalrights@yahoo.ca if you can
make it!
