Animal 0 Posté(e) le 21 juillet 2006 Man killed after falling into meat grinder May 31, 2005 - 11:19AM A man died when he fell into meat grinder at a West Australian abattoir. The 36-year-old man was working at the Hillside Meats abattoir in Narrogin, 192 kilometres south-east of Perth, about 1.15pm yesterday when he fell into the meat auger. "Basically we don't know how, but somehow he fell into or got entangled in a meat auger, which has pulled his whole body into the machine," a police spokesman said. "There were deep, massive lacerations to his neck, chest, arms - killing him quickly." The 30-metre long auger, which runs inside a horizontal trough, is used to grind meat offcuts and offal for processing. St John Ambulance and the Fire and Emergency Services Authority went to the scene after workmates were unable to free the man. "They had to pull the machine apart to get him out," the police spokesman said. Further comment was being sought from WorkSafe, which has launched an inquiry into the accident.
