J'étais en train de penser qu'il faudrait sans doute que l'on documente notre dossier. Est-ce que l'on connaît des cas au Québec ? Nous avons celui du Yukon, dans notre bulletin mais il nous en faudrait quelques autres. Il y avait eu cette américaine Y. Geller qui avait fait la manchette du journal de Montréal mais je ne sais plus s'il s'agissait de chiens enchaînés.

Comme cette cruauté n'a jamais été dénoncée au Québec Cé, je ne crois pas qu'on en ai déjà parlé dans les nouvelles... Mais des chiens enchaînés à vie, il y en a partout, dans tous les villages, près des "schaks" sur les bords des autoroutes, etc. etc. Un ancien voisin de ma soeur Isabelle avait abattu son chien d'une balle dans la tête car il ne pouvait plus l'approcher... et je suis certaine que ce cas n'est pas unique Peut-être qu'en en parlant, il y aura des dénonciations...

Tammy Grimes, founder of Dogs Deserve Better, was
arrested Monday, September 11, 2006, for helping a
dying chained dog she dubbed Doogie in East Freedom,
Pennsylvania. Grimes organization was called with
frantic pleas for help by a neighbor and another
concerned citizen who alerted them to his plight.
Kim Eicher, the neighbor, stated that Doogie had been
unable to stand since Saturday, and she had gotten no
response from the local humane society after calling
all weekend. Grimes instructed her to call again,
leaving a detailed message. When Ms. Eicher had gotten
no response by noon, Grimes team went out to see if
they could help Doogie.

Grimes, upon seeing Doogie from the road, initially
felt he had already died, as he was lying with his
back to the road and was not moving. Her team went to
investigate, and found that he was still alive, but
was unable to stand, his legs flailing about in the
mud and his own feces. She documented his condition
with video and photos, and—making the decision to put
Doogie's welfare ahead of any fears of legal
action—took him to a local veterinarian, getting him
immediate and necessary care. She then took Doogie to
her home, bathed him, gave him food and water, and
made him comfortable. She was later arrested for her
refusal to return Doogie to a certain and immediate
death on the end of a chain. She is now facing
misdemeanor theft, receiving stolen property, criminal
mischief, and criminal trespass charges.

Grimes states, "I will always be proud of what I did
for Doogie. As Oprah says, there is one thing I know
for sure: helping Doogie was the only morally right
thing to do. The video has been placed on You Tube,
and has received over 13,000 views in two days. People
are astounded and outraged that we live in a society
where those who help suffering animals are arrested,
and those who abuse them are not punished. I am
calling for my immediate release from all charges, and
for the Arnolds to instead be charged with abuse—based
on video and photo evidence, the testimony of a
neighbor and another citizen, and the testimony of the
veterinarian. I am asking all concerned citizens to
stand with me against this atrocity. Speak out, do not
let the press and local authorities railroad me while

MONTREAL -- An American businesswoman wants to put a leash on people who
mistreat sled dogs in Quebec.
Ivonne Gelabert was shocked when she visited a tour camp north of Montreal
last Thanksgiving and found 150 huskies used for sled rides chained to
posts.
``Some had shelter, some did not, none of them had water or food,'' she
recalled on Thursday, the incredulity still in her voice.
``These dogs were all barking, trying to get attention.''
Beastly conditions are not unusual for animals in Quebec, which lacks a
provincial animal welfare act. Horror stories of mistreatment abound as do
tales of mere slaps on the wrists for abusers.
Gelabert is putting ads in Sunday editions of two Quebec newspapers to alert
people to the huskies' plight.

mais elles ont sûrement par contre ces cas d'attaques de chiens qui ont eu lieu au Québec...
Il y a aussi cette asso en Colombie-Britannique qui s'occupe uniquement de ces cas de chiens attachés mais je ne me rappelle plus de son nom... et elle n'est pas de notre province non plus

Ok Do, je vais d'abord demander à Nicole Joncas et à Louise. Elles ont peut-être des infos. Ensuite, je ferai un "appel" at large aux rescues.

Hier, je m'apprêtais à poster la lettre au ministre et j'ai eu un recul. Je me suis dit qu'il faudrait peut-être d'abord passer par un député pour respecter les étapes ?

De laquelle parles-tu, Do ? Si tu parles des pétitions sur le site de petitions on line, légalement, elles ne valent rien de toutes façons. Si tu parles de Johanne, elle travaillait dans un bureau d'avocats et elle est allée avec Patricia, je crois, rencontrer le secrétaire ou l'assistant de la ministre à l'époque. Quant à la pétition que Debra avait démarrée, je ne sais pas ce qu'elle est devenue mais aux dernières nouvelles, Monic Landry avait décidé de s'en charger et elle m'avait déjà dit qu'elle connaissait un député.

Je vais demander à Patricia si elle a des infos sur l'enchaînement au Québec.
