Animal 0 Posté(e) le 26 septembre 2006 Je ne mets pas cette annonce sur le site, de peur que les animaux ne soient récupérés pas un producteur de viande... http://www.fallow-deer.blogspot.com/ ------------------------------- On October 1, 2005, it came to our attention that a farmer in our community, whose health was failing, could no longer maintain adequate care for the 105 Fallow Deer on his farm and they were in the process of being destroyed in the form of a canned hunt. Upon witnessing this travesty, my husband and I stepped in and spoke to the owner about other alternatives. Within 24 hours, my husband and I adopted 109 Fallow Deer with the help of a generous sponsor in the Kingston area who donated the money to purchase the herd. We then turned the farm into a Reserve, to allow the animals to live out their natural lives without harm. The farmer agreed to keep the deer on his property until our small group could find an established sanctuary for them. Since Fallow Deer originated in Europe and they are not native to Canada, they therefore cannot be released into the wild and must be kept in captivity. As of Spring 2006, we found a home for all of the does and fawns. We transported these beautiful creatures to Omega Park in Quebec on April 23, 2006. We now have 13 Bucks remaining at the reserve who we are trying to find a good home for. Unfortunately, Omega Park did not want to take any mature bucks because the area that the other deer are housed in (a 70 acre enclosure in a pristine wilderness area) is open to human visitors who can walk through and admire the deer, and during rutting season, this could present a liability that Omega Park was not willing to risk. The bucks are very healthy and doing extremely well. They have become much more accustomed to us and one buck is now eating out of our hand and is also allowing us to pat him. Unfortunately, the farmer will not allow us to keep the deer on his property much longer so we are now desperately trying to place them in a good home. If you can help us or know anyone that would be interested in adopting these deer, please contact us or feel free to forward this email on to others with humane and compassionate intentions. Thank you for your help. Partager ce message Lien à poster Partager sur d’autres sites
