Animal 0 Posté(e) le 28 septembre 2006 Ça risque de nous toucher, si cette loi entre en vigueur aux États-Unis, car le Canada ne tardera sûrement pas à faire pareil ! ------------------------------------------------ 28 september 2006- The Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act (AETA) is a bill that, if passed, could make it a crime to cause any business classified as an "animal enterprise" (e.g., factory farms, fur farms, vivisection labs, rodeos and circuses) to suffer a profit loss -- even if the company's financial decline is caused by peaceful protests. Outlawing non-violent activist tactics that don't physically hurt anyone and defining them as "terrorism" is a completely unacceptable violation of our constitutionally-granted First Amendment rights to freedom of speech as Americans. We must take action NOW to defend our right to protest cruelty against animals -- before it is too late! Industry groups are pushing AETA through quickly and with little public scrutiny (fast-tracking it like they did the Patriot Act: first through the House of Representatives, then through the Senate) before the current Congressional session ends. In fact, the House is scheduled to vote on this bill (HR 4239) TOMORROW, Friday, September 29th! plus d'infos: http://www.greenisthenewred.com/blog/ Partager ce message Lien à poster Partager sur d’autres sites

animo-aequoanimo 0 Posté(e) le 5 octobre 2006 Senate Unanimously Passes Sweeping “Eco-terrorism” Legislation September 30th, 2006 by Will Potter The Senate passed the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act last night by unanimous consent. That’s right, unanimous. No senator, Democrat or Republican, spoke up to block this sweeping legislation that labels non-violent activists as “terrorists.” You can see for yourself how it was fast-tracked by searching on Thomas for S. 3880: 9/8/2006: Read twice and referred to the Committee on the Judiciary. 9/30/2006: Senate Committee on the Judiciary discharged by Unanimous Consent. 9/30/2006: Measure laid before Senate by unanimous consent. 9/30/2006: S.AMDT.5115 Amendment SA 5115 proposed by Senator Frist for Senator Feinstein. To provide a complete substitute. 9/30/2006: S.AMDT.5115 Amendment SA 5115 agreed to in Senate by Unanimous Consent. 9/30/2006: Passed Senate with an amendment by Unanimous Consent. It’s clear there was a lot of pressure by some lawmakers, and the industry groups that support them, to get this through before the elections. The House counterpart, HR 4239, is still pending.
