Rudi, they grow to 1.2m sometimes a little more. Love to swim and often seen in their pool but are also great climbers. They need very high humidity and a deep substrate to burrow into. I use a mix of topsoil and playsand.
Diet consists of prawn/shrimp (with shells on), crab, locust, crickets (when young) quail eggs, dubia roaches, freshwater fish like trout, mice and rats.

Dumeril monitors are fairly laid back and make amazing captives. A very underated monitor.

They will be separated as they grow.
Not 100% on sex yet but have a good idea.
I like building big enclosures

All 4 have completely lost the orange colouration now and still growing fast.

I thought it was time I should update this post.
All 4 little ones are growing fast and eating well. No signs of aggression (though they will be separated when older).
They still appear to be 50-50 arboreal and aquatic.
Mainly feed on the ground but have obseved them eating amongst the foliage too.
Starting to loose the bright orange colouration to their heads but still gorgeous.

J'ai pensé qu'il était temps que je doit mettre à jour ce post.
Tous les quatre petits grandissent vite et bien manger. Pas de signes d'agressivité (bien qu'ils seront séparés lorsqu'ils sont plus âgés).
Ils semblent encore être 50-50 arboricole et aquatique.
Se nourrissent principalement sur ​​le terrain mais ont obseved les manger parmi le feuillage trop.
À partir de perdre la coloration orange vif à leur tête, mais toujours magnifique.

I have been after these for a while now and then 4 turn up.
You have good taste in varanids but V. Flavescens are fairly hard to find (in the UK anyway)

They are 3-4 months old and will soon lose the colouring on the head which is a shame.
That is why I am taking so many pictures of them while they are still young lol.

I wont be going to Snake day. I appreciate the beauty of snakes but have no desire to own them.
I prefer my reptiles to have a leg in each corner

I bought 4 in the hope that I would be able to get a breeding pair from them.
It is too early to sex these little ones yet but they are great fun and very pretty.
Long term plans are to breed these as they are rare in UK collections.

Tails regenerate well but do not look as good as the they did before, but these ones are still young so should not be a problem.
I prefer to keep them outdoors as they are much happier, colours are brighter and can keep them in larger groups.
I find keeping them indoors is problematic as even male and female pairs will become aggresive and fight constantly. I do know of people who keep them indoors ok but I prefer to replicate natural environments as much as possible for all my lizards.

Tails se régénérer, mais ne regardez pas aussi bonne que la ils le faisaient avant, mais celles-ci sont encore jeunes ne devraient donc pas être un problème.
Je préfère les garder à l'extérieur car ils sont beaucoup plus heureux, les couleurs sont plus brillantes et peut les conserver dans de grands groupes.
Je trouve les garder est à l'intérieur même problématique que les paires mâle et femelle va devenir agressif et battre constamment. Je ne connais des personnes qui les gardent à l'intérieur ok, mais je préfère de reproduire des environnements naturels, autant que possible pour tous mes lézards.

One has had a small bit of tail bitten off but has healed well and will regenerate.
All my Timon are captive bred in the UK and do well here outdoors so long as you cover them in the winter.

On a eu un petit bout de la queue mordu mais a bien guéri et se régénère.
Tous mes Timon sont élevés en captivité au Royaume-Uni et de bien faire ici, en extérieur aussi longtemps que vous les couvrir en hiver.

6 nouveaux arrivants à ajouter à la collection.
Trop tôt pour le plaisir du sexe, mais pas encore idéal pour garder et seront conservés dans des coffrets porte.
