The women, an 18-year-old named Anna D., a student of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the National Institute of Biological Resources, and her friend, 19-year-old Alisa K. from Kiev’s Institute of International Relations (RT, 20 July 2009), allegedly discovered a dog who had been hit by a car. After waiting hours until the dog had died while ignoring the certain pain and suffering experienced by the dog, they proceeded to perform a dissection on the floor of Alisa's kitchen. They recorded the dissection and their associated pleasure doing so; indeed, the enjoyment they exhibited while skinning and butchering the dog is especially heinous considering their pursuit of veterinarian degrees. I have to ask how these women were able to wait hours until the dog died while remaining apathetic towards the dog's suffering; certainly any attempt to provide medical assistance would be natural, especially to one involved in veterinarian medicine. However, to ignore this dog's prolonged agony would require a mindset that is either indifferent or disturbed; indeed, for them to ignore the dog's trauma demonstrates a lack of morality regarding other living beings as well as a gross disrespect for the veterinarian field of medicine. In fact, even faculty have been quoted as describing their behaviour as "unethical" (RT, 20 July 2009), and it most certainly violates any internationally recognized standard of veterinarian care and accreditation. You must not allow these students to continue their education working with such a vulnerable population; in fact, allowing these women to be associated with your universities would most certainly stigmatize you and bring disgrace to your schools' reputations. I am hoping that you will take an unyielding position against such a blatant disregard of animals and expel these students immediately. To allow their pursual of veterinarian degrees will only serve to discredit your fine schools by projecting an indifferent attitude towards such shocking behaviour. Indeed, your schools should demonstrate in both word and action that yours do not excuse maliciousness or indifference towards animals, and that your students are not those who deviate from a compassionate and caring stance. Thank you for your attention and consideration to such an urgent matter. Partager ce message Lien à poster Partager sur d’autres sites
