[Pétition] No Voice No Choice: say no to animal performance

Messages recommandés

Animals Asia today launches No Voice No Choice – an international campaign asking people to pledge never to attend animal performances.
The only way to stop businesses profiting from animal performance is to stop going. No customers equals no performance — and animal lovers can pledge never to attend animal performances here:

And while animals can’t speak out about their treatment – animal lovers can do so on their behalf.
The campaign has been backed by a raft of celebrities including Ricky Gervais, Brian Blessed, many of the Downton Abbey stars, Michaela Strachan and Asian superstar Karen Mok.
Animals Asia has campaigned in China and Vietnam to end animal performances but with many western countries still not banning the practice – this campaign has an international focus.

Animals Asia’s Animal Welfare Director Dave Neale said:
“Many of our supporters, while supportive of our work to end performances in China and Vietnam are aghast to find that this is still commonplace in much of the west. While animal performances continue to happen anywhere in the world we are failing animals.
“Giant strides are being made but we need to see this end country after country. We’re saying – ‘End it where you live and support those working to end it where they are.
“Together we can eradicate this absolutely and end animal suffering for entertainment."

Tens of thousands of wild animals around the world are used in performances at circuses, zoos and safari parks. Behind the façade of entertainment, they are routinely abused, neglected and malnourished.
The techniques used to force animals to perform are often cruel and abusive, while animal welfare standards are usually ignored.
Animals Asia founder and CEO, Jill Robinson MBE said:
"It's hard to imagine that seeing an animal in a circus could ever bring the same amount of joy as seeing an animal behaving naturally in the wild. Why take animals from their natural environment and put them in an alien environment? Why torture them until their spirits are broken and they succumb to performing tricks? I believe we all instinctively know that animal performances are wrong. We must speak up for animals. We must never accept animal performances."
