La province de Québec est la première étape visée. Le rassemblement se fera au Chalet Calixa-Lavallée sur la rue Calixa-Lavallée puis la marche se déroulera sur la rue Cherrier jusqu'au Carré St-Louis. Horse meat faces ban in Italy Italy is the largest consumer of horsemeat in Europe with more than 48,000 metric tonnes eaten every year and it is a common dish among youngsters because of its high iron content. According to the Food and Agriculture Organisation 213,000 horses are slaughtered in Italy every year but now politicians from all parties are considering banning its slaughter and sale. Francesca Martini, a minister with the Italian health ministry and a member of the ruling Right-wing coalition, has put forward the bill, arguing that the "dignity of horses should be respected". The motion is already on the desk of the Italian parliament's culture commission and has won considerably cross party support with opposition centre-Left MPs also backing it. Among those leading the call for a ban is Italy's agriculture minister Luca Zaia who says horses should not be eaten and instead "considered just like cats and dogs". Mr Zaia said:"I have always been against the slaughter and consumption of horse meat. Horses are fine animals and should be treated as such, they should not be eaten." His support has angered people who live in his home region of Veneto, which covers Venice and Verona, where horse meat is a culinary delicacy and features in several dishes. Horse meat is used in a stew called pastissada (typical of Verona), served as horse or colt steaks, as carpaccio, or made into bresaola. Horse fat is used in recipes such as "pezzetti di cavallo" (pieces of horsemeat) and another favourite dish is horse in a bed of rocket, dressed with olive oil and fresh lemon juice. Also in Veneto, horsemeat sausages called "salsiccia di equino'' or salami, and thin strips of horse meat called "sfilacci'' are sold and it has 8 per cent of the country's national consumption. According to figures from the Italian health department the average national consumption is around a kilo of horsemeat per year per person. Italian newspaper websites carrying the report were flooded with comments from angry readers in areas such as Veneto where horsemeat is popular. One person in Venice wrote: "Why is the government trying to abolish something that is buried in the roots of Italian culture? If it is banned it will just be driven underground and there will be a thriving black market." While another in Verona said: "Horse meat is part of the culinary culture of my city. Politicians are always talking about the loss of traditions but they are quite happy to get rid of this one when it suits them." However the proposal was welcomed by the Italian federation for equine sports and animal cruelty charities who said it was "legislation that had been long overdue". Horse meat has been a delicacy in Italy since the Roman times although during the Middle Ages Pope Gregory III did describe its consumption as "abominable" but his calls for it to be shunned were ignored by hungry peasants. In 1928 a law was introduced by Benito Mussolini's Fascist government that only specialist horse butchers could sell equine meat and they could not stock other cuts. La dixième Veggie Pride aura lieu à Lyon le 15 mai 2010 La Veggie Pride est une marche qui rassemble les végétariens pour les animaux tous les ans depuis 2001. Le problème avec le miel est que l'apiculteur prélève une culture qui devrait appartenir aux abeilles. Ensuite, pour récolter le miel, l'apiculteur enfume les abeilles. Ce sont ces points qui font que les vegans n'utilisent pas le miel d'abeille. Par contre, on peut se faire soi-même du miel à partir du trèfle. Mais, il faut être en été pour pouvoir le faire... En voici une recette. Personnellement, je ne l'ai pas encore essayée (je me dis, depuis que je connais la recette, que le ferai mais il me faut trouver un champ de trèfle propre). Apparemment, ce miel est délicieux. RECETTE de miel maison 30 trèfles blancs 30 trèfles rouges les pétales d'1 rose (facultatif) 8 tasses de sucre 2 tasses d'eau 1/4 c à thé d'alun. Fondre le sucre dans l'eau bouillante et mijoter jusqu'à ce que le mélange épaississe. Incorporer l'alun et mettre à bouillir pendant 3 minutes. Laver les fleurs à grande eau et les mettre ensuite dans le sirop et bouillir 2 minutes de plus. Retirer le chaudron du feu et tamiser le sirop. Verser dans des pots stérilisés .

Alors, quand tu es prête, sauf demain et après-demain, je ne pourrai probablement pas faire grand chose car je travaille à l'extérieur. Ici, il n'est que 7:30. Dans une demi-heure, je m'en vais promener la petite et je devrais être de retour vers 10:30. Ça lui prend au moins 1h1/2 de marche sinon elle regimbe ....

Allo ma belle Céline, Do vient tout juste de mettre la page en ligne hier soir. Elle attendait après moi pour les photos. J'ai une nouvelle caméra et il faut faire des installations sur l'ordinateur pour les enregistrer et c'est tout un aria. Alors, je lui ai fait parvenir ce que je pouvais avant-hier seulement. Il y aura encore une ou deux photos de volontaires qui n'apparaissent pas sur les photos de Montréal que je n'ai pas pu télécharger encore... Ah la la ! c'est frustrant ça quand ça nous tombe dessus quand on ne s'y attend pas ! Si je peux te proposer de l'aide, il y a peut-être des petites choses que je pourrais faire, mais comme cette semaine, j'ai 2 journées de boulot hors de la maison (je travaille à temps partiel environ 4 jours par mois à faire de l'entrée de données chez une avocate), alors je ne pourrais pas faire grand chose faute de temps, à moins de petites choses, et sauf travailler sur le site en tant que tel car je ne m'y connais pas du tout mais autrement s'il y a des choses que tu crois que je pourrais faire, n'hésite pas, ça me fera plaisir,

Le propriétaire de la Boucherie Côte à Côte et chasseur de phoques Réjean Vigneau est à bord du navire. Il affirme que l'objectif des chasseurs est d'abattre un millier de phoques par jour. La viande de phoque est très demandée dans une vingtaine de restaurants du Québec. La chasse aux phoques est officiellement ouverte depuis vendredi malgré l'absence de glaces dans le golfe du Saint-Laurent.

En fin de semaine, nous avons eu un cas de cruauté animale et je crois qu'il est important de dénoncer cette situation. Le chien un mâle Mastiff croisé, à été tiré par balle sur la rue Bel-automne à St-Barthélemy. La propriétaire du chien avait avisé la Municipalité de sa fugue et nous étions à sa recherche. Le chien à été retrouvé blessé dans le fossé à la hauteur des adresses 1700. La personne qui est l'auteur de ce crime, n'a pas pris la peine de l'achever. Bien au contraire, il à été dompé par tracteur proche de la maison de ses propriétaires. Un beau message de la part de ce barbare qui vit dans notre communautée. Je crois qu'il est important que les gens qui vivent sur cette rue soit avisé pour protèger leurs chiens contre cette personne qui pourrait sévir de nouveau. Alors, si vous êtes citoyen de St-barthélemy, faite passer le message. La loi interdit d'utiliser des armes à feu pour se faire justice nous même.
