    Cyriocosmus

i don't keep any Avicularia's anymore. they are not really my kind of spiders... i'm more into Asian arboreal spiders, some African, and some of the dwarf-species

    Cyriocosmus

merci beaucoup (i always try to give them the best care i can )

    Cyriocosmus

combien? je ne sais plus je pense plus de 1000 (i stopped counting a few years ago, because it always goes up and down... it depends on my breeding results )

    Lampropelma nigerrimum

Lampropelma nigerrimum is VERY easy to sex (even at a very young age ) small female small male
  7. if i'm not mistaken this should be Lampropelma 'borneo black' and the juveniles are also sexable by colour... (females become darker with each molt, and males become browner, just like with L. nigerrimum )

    Lampropelma nigerrimum

thanks yours is equally as nice and you are right, they are very easy to sex by colour from a very young age. that's why i'm trying to slow down my males, and speed up some of my females... (i have multiple bloodlines, so it's no problem for breeding )
  9. tom12

    Lampropelma nigerrimum

it seems typical behaviour of L. nigerrimum (or maybe it's because they're female, and have the attitude of a b*tch )
  10. hamm and houten last weekend: +-60-65€/adult female maybe a good idea for next time to try and go there?

    holothele incei

    yes, you are clear

    holothele incei

how big is the male in comparison to the female? because they can mate/breed at a very small size (even with the female being smaller as the male, so if i was you i would keep on trying to mate them )

    Monocentropus balfouri

i don't think they are that rare in the wild, but they only exist on a small african island. that is not accessable for men.... and i know of a lot of people who posses this species, but most of them are captive bred, and some are (illegaly) wildcaught. but that is a question i can't answer, it would be the same as to ask you if you know how many people posses P. metallica for example but i'm sure here in belgium (where i live) i'm one of the few who has this species (and is trying to breed it. but that doesn't change the fact that they stay expensive because they are difficult to breed and have very small number of spiderlings in the eggsacs... and as long as only a few have these and try to breed these, then the price will stay high... so maybe you can buy a lot of them, breed them in big numbers, and then sell them cheap, then the price of the others will also go down

sorry for my mis-interpretation... but it's something i hear to often... so much for that spider??? it isn't worth it. i'm not interested in it, some people even say it's an ugly one. and don't know why people want it. had some people say it even with P. metallica. but when i say i have some mated, then they always say: i would like one IF the price is very low... and the mistake i made in the past was: i've sold some of my offspring very cheap to people i know, and behind my back they were selling the same offspring (they got from me) for 2 or even 3times as much... you live and learn i guess.... but that's why it bothers me when people discuss the prices, but my opinion is: if you can't afford it, simply don't buy it

@ ludo: i don't understand completely... but i think you are saying that if you buy a breeding group of this species and you have succes, you wouldn't ask as much? than how much would you ask? because if you really would not ask as much as the rest, than you can buy my complete breeding group, and if you have succes then i buy all your little spiderlings for only a few €'s and then sell them for what they are worth! (that's another reason why i wouldn't sell mine very cheap if i ever have succes, because you always have people who want to take advantage of you) it's easy to talk about selling spiderlings cheap if you didn't have to buy the breeders yourself. you would be an idiot (not adressed to you) if you spent 1000's of €'s for rare spiders, and then sell their offspring very cheap. it would be another case if the eggsac contained 1000's of spiders (like for example A. geniculata or L. parahybana) but it's not like that is it....

    Monocentropus balfouri

310€ is not the price for an adult, it's more like the price for a (bigger) juvenile sexed as female. the price for an adult female (if you can find one) is more like +500€ the problem with this species is that they make small eggsacs (if you are lucky enough to get a decent one) that contains +- 20-40 spiderlings that's why they are so expensive: high price for spiderlings, higher prices for females, small eggsacs... if a breeder has a big group, and he has succes than it's not likely he will be selling this cheap, because he had to put a lot of money in it himself.
