    Cluain Na Ri (Mort)

very sad news Corinne, the loss of a lovely stallion, he has left some mares in foal and some babies i hope..
  2. Again wonderful photos Cathy, beautiful french sunshine, and the colt looks very promising, a super head, and look at all his feather!! One to watch for the future I think...
  3. He continues to grow and mature, and keeps his wonderful colour, I still do not know what colour you would call him? but he truely is unique. Did you recieve the photo of his mother I sent you? I will certainly find his father for you also, after a bit of detective work.
  4. She is looking more and more beautiful, you have done a very good job with her. I may have some news about her father next week, so i will take some DNA for you. Her father is in Scotland and I will be going to see him, so it will be good to confirm this and we can put it on her pedigree/registration document. Her name Pandora comes from the ancient greek mythology, 'gifted' and 'unique' and i think her name suits her very much. And yes, I agree, I think you should learn English! it would be very good for us.
  5. isabeau, what makes you think you know so much how horses from England? from my experience your knowledge is limited and quite often misguided. so here are the facts from someone who actually knows. Gypsy Cobs should never get laminitis, they are not a breed prone to this, in 30 years of owning Gypsy Cobs we have never had a single example. A gypsy Cob should not be Fat, but muscled, the difference between fat and muscle is obvious. fat horses will get laminitis, so dont get your Gypsy Cob fat but 'well covered; and muscled' . The british Shetland pony is a perfect example of a breed who is prone to getting laminitis because they get too fat. if your Gypsy cob has laminitis you are feeding your horse seriously wrong, likewise, a gypsy cob who is underweight is totally wrong (unless of course she is putting everything in to her milk production, lactating, )
  6. THE REAL CHICKEN!!!!NO, NO , NO, LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Charlotte you must explain her name, pleeeeeeeeeese, before any more chicken comments!! Think of a lady 'of the night' who does not care who she 'goes with', she follows anyone, and becomes a man hunter, then you have A REAL FLOOZY!!
  7. Have you tried talking with Corinne (Domaine du vallon)? she has a great knowledge of colour and the resulting possibilities when breeding for colour. she will be able to advise you on this I am sure. she also has a knowledge and history of both friesian and gypsy cob.
  8. she looks beautiful in the French sunshine, I think I made a big mistake, and she should of remained here in England! here at chywoon! a rare opportunity for such a beauty to arrive in france, with her partner Lady Luck will be very special for someone who is lucky to buy these two fillies. I get alot of pleasure in reading all your very nice comments and thank you everyone for your kind words.
  9. so you like the delivery i send you? beautiful mares and fillies, I am pleased they arrived safely and on time. Now I wait for the photos, in their new french home. Thank you charlotte once again.
  10. Charlotte you tease every one and keep them in suspense for the arrival of these beautiful horses. How much would you all love me to put photos here for you?? sorry I cant do that! you will have to wait, but you can all believe me when i say they truely are a beautiful group of Gypsy Cobs.
  11. if you send me an email I will send you some photos of his father Tidd Son, do you want some photos?
  12. for the attention of domainedepegase, being the English judge you mention i take serious offence that you can assume I know who the owner of a horse is or how it is bred. I am not interested in the breeding, or who the owner is. my job consists of telling you if you have a Gypsy Cob or not, in both cases you mention, they are not Gypsy Cobs, the first being Upsy, and let me tell you that height is defined by the genetic makeup and not how much you feed your young horse! and for your reference, father Blackjack of ICS would NOT pass as a Gypsy Cob. Every gypsy Cob should have weight and good condition, being in good condition however, does not automatically make it a Gypsy Cob. Height is not an issue as long as it has breed type, for example the gelding Kian, very big but full of 100% breed type! The mare is simply not a Gypsy Cob, and nothing you can do will make her one. would i be doing the breed justice if i turned a blind eye and passed everything before me as a gypsy cob for the sake of upsetting the owner.? Is this what the gypsy cob breed really wants? I trust my co judges completely to make the correct choice in my absence, and this day prooved to me they can be trusted to do so. I am sorry your owners obviously had such a bad day, but these inspections and shows are held to protect the breed and keep the french horses to the correct breed standard.
  13. Congratulations on your news for 2011. I still wait for my John Boy foals to arrive. Can we see some recent photos of him, perhaps taken in August? Charlotte tells me how great he looks now, after only 4 months, he has gained weight and now looks a Gypsy Cob stallion, so lets see the photos! please.....??
  14. great photos Sandrine, it is easy to imagine being there, thank you
  15. Dick, Fantasy is maturing into a very pretty filly, such a bonny head, she looks just like i thought she would when i first viewed her only 10 months old, seeing her potential then makes me very happy that i was right and along with Favour, Felicity and Fascination, they are a real asset to the french breeding programme. I am so happy charlotte made this choice to import such important young ladies. Diddikai and Cinnamon are looking great, My special Diddikai is growing up fast, and soon to be a Sire himself! His conformation on these photos should give everyone an idea of what to aim for, and the family likeness with Cinnamon is very obvious. Thank you to everyone who has bought chywoon gypsy cobs and thank you charlotte , you are responsible for some of the most beautfiul gypsy cobs coming into new ownership i France, I wish they could all stay here in my fields, but seeing these photos of everyone with their new horses gives me so much joy i really can not explain it, you have all done a great job and the breed is looking very healthy for the future. Super photos of all the horses, I understand you all had a very enjoyable, friendly day , good atmosphere and conversations, I wish I could of been there, but I will see some of you next week.
  16. just to wish everyone a good weekend, nice weather, and an entertaining 2 days, wish i was able to come, but will be thinking about you all having a good time!

    Chywoon John Boy-VENDU

So I had excellent news from Charlotte to tell me that Chywoon John Boy is looking amazing! I am so pleased that you obviously have put alot of work into getting him to look so healthy and well. Congratulations Fabanne on making me proud, I am so very happy to hear that John Boy looks as good as I know he can be, I always had the confidence that he would be a very special stallion, just because he is not BIG does not mean he is not quality, he has excellent blood and now he has started to look so good you will appriciate what i have been telling you for the last year. you have a wonderful stallion in John Boy, we have a 'saying' in England, THE BEST THINGS COME IN SMALL PARCELS. Thank you Anne for making John Boy look so good. carol x

A vendre au Domaine de Rochefort

Carole you have bred a beautiful filly! I think I mentioned before how nice I thought she was, but she grows into an even bigger beauty. The combination of Chywoon Blossom and Two Bob obviously works very well. The one thing I notice from her photos, is that Anais has excellent movement, i can see from the photos and video that she picks her feet up well and bends at the knee and the HOCK!,this means that her hind movement is as good as her front movement. Well done on producing such a proper little lady. xxxx
  21. may be you should go and look at Jamestaylorgypsyhorses at the 'dusk colt'. James is an excellent breeder of gypsy horses and has some beautiful horses. enjoy!

    Fermeture du stud book

Thank you isabeau and charlotte for your explanation on the new GCS UK regulations shortly to be put in to motion. The decesion was made by DEFRA and not GCS UK and as charlotte says correctly it should not really effect anything different in france, it will just make my job 100% harder here in the UK to get DNA off breeders before registration. At the moment we are working on 31st August but I am currently in discussions with DEFRA to change it to 31 December which is what they agreed originally, it makes no sense to me to change the rules half way through the breeding year.? What ever they decide, the result will be better for horses arriving in france with dna parentage, there will be no more doubt as to bloodlines, and breeders will have to proof parentage, i am in agreement with that totally, if parents can not be dna verified, the parentage will now say 'unknown'. I hope there is no confusion, Charlotte and Isabeau have a good understanding of the regulations and will help you. thank you. carol (GCS UK President)
  23. Any advice given on a forum such as this should be accepted with the intention it was written. There is never a personal attack on any one breeder. and there should be no reason for a breeder to have to explain themselves. if someone is hurt by my writing the obvious, then they have not taken the advice in the way it was intended. The goal is for everyone to do their best for their horses, sometimes for a variety of temporary reasons, they are not able to, but the fact they acknowledge this is creditable. In my opinion No farmer should be singled out, or named, in any forum. The advice written is with good intention, not meant to cause upset or hurt. Sometimes advice can be taken in the wrong way, but those who love horses, will only want what is best and do their best to make it possible, accept the advice if you wish, that is the individuals choice. but dont ever feel the need to explain yourself, especially on a forum.
  24. I have to say that I agree totally with Domaine de Pegase. Over the last 3 years I have travelled many miles around france, and occasionally I have returned home with a very sad heart. To see the breed that I have known for many years in a new country is encouraging, many have been kept in excellent condition which is normal animal husbandry, but at the same time i have witnessed gypsy Cobs in small paddocks, far too many horses for the size of the paddock (I can not even call some of them fields) they are that small, there has been more grass on my kitchen table.!! The risk of desease and cross infection through excrement left in paddocks, breeding desease and worm infestation, plastic from hay bales, string left on the ground. There is no excuse for this, if you have any horse, you should know what its daily requirement should be, good food, clean fresh water and shade from the hot sun. This is not science, but common sense. I have to say that these conditions have been rare to my eyes, but to be honest I should not of witnessed them at all. The majority of Gypsy Cobs owners in France have wonderful fields, they know how many they can keep comfortably without overcrowding, and also have a knowledge of general equine care, for those that dont, be honest with yourselves, are you really doing the very best for your horse, do you really give it the best of care, remember this breed is from a cool country with green grass, is it therefore fair to keep it in a desert? for myself, I would never sell one of my Gypsy Cobs to France if i did not have a good idea of where it was going and who was going to own it. and if I ever see something I dont like, I think most of you know I say what I think. Thankfully like i said, most owners are sensible and good owners, but the minority of poor owners need to think about changing their animal husbandry techniques.
